Betting bonuses explained: how to read one before you accept it

Checked on 10 September 2026

The percentage in the banner is the least useful number in a bonus. What decides whether an offer is worth taking is the rollover, the kind of bet that counts, the minimum odds and the deadline. This guide explains each, with the actual terms of 1xBet, Melbet and Win Win Bet and the arithmetic in Birr.

Types of bonus you will meet

Welcome (first-deposit) bonusA percentage of your first deposit up to a cap. 1xBet and Melbet advertise 200%, Win Win Bet 100%. New accounts only.
Multi-deposit packageSpread over several deposits, usually for casino. Win Win Bet: 100%, then 50% + 35 spins, 25% + 50 spins, 25% + 65 spins.
Split bonusOne headline split into parts with different rules. 1xBet: half for sports (5x accumulators), half for 1xGames (30x).
Free spinsRounds on a named slot; winnings usually become bonus balance with their own rollover.
CashbackA share of losses returned. Melbet: 10% weekly on app bets of 200 ETB+; Win Win Bet: an 8-level ladder for casino play.
Loyalty pointsEarned by playing and spent on rewards. Win Win Bet's Promo Code Store is the clearest example.
No-deposit bonusBalance granted at registration without depositing. None of the three offers one with the codes on this site.

Rollover: the number that defines the bonus

Rollover (also "wagering requirement" or "turnover") is how many times you must stake the bonus before you can withdraw. A 10,000 ETB bonus at 5x means 50,000 ETB of qualifying bets; at 30x it means 300,000 ETB. Every one of those bets carries the bookmaker's margin, so the higher the rollover, the lower the chance of reaching the end with money left.

Two questions to ask any bonus:

  • What is it multiplied on? The bonus only, or bonus plus deposit? All three brands here multiply the bonus.
  • In what kind of bet? Singles, accumulators, games? This is where the three differ most.

Accumulator conditions

1xBet and Win Win Bet only count accumulators of three or more selections at odds of 1.40 or higher. That rules out the safest way to grind through a rollover — short-priced singles — and means each qualifying bet has a real chance of losing. A three-leg accumulator at 1.40 each pays 2.74; the implied probability of all three winning is under 37% before the margin. Plan for the bonus to be spent across many bets, not preserved.

Melbet accepts singles, which is a genuine advantage — unless the active promotion sets the minimum odds at 2.10, in which case each qualifying bet is roughly a coin-flip. This is why we keep saying: open the promotion terms in your account and read the odds line.

The conditions that quietly change the value

Minimum deposit for the bonus

Different from the platform minimum. Melbet's cashier accepts 25 ETB but the bonus needs 50–185 ETB depending on the promotion; 1xBet needs 150 ETB. Depositing the platform minimum activates nothing.

Excluded payment methods

1xBet excludes crypto deposits from the welcome bonus. Check the equivalent clause at the other two before depositing in USDT.

Deadline

30 days is standard; one 1xBet listing quotes 7 days for the same offer. A short deadline on an accumulator-only rollover is the combination most likely to push you into bets you would not otherwise place.

Game exclusions and contribution

1xBet's games half excludes roulette, Pachinko and some dice games. Casino packages elsewhere typically count slots at 100% and table games at a fraction — read the contribution table.

Maximum bet with bonus balance

Many promotions cap the stake per bet while bonus funds are active. The sources we reviewed do not publish a figure for these three brands; look for it in the terms, because exceeding it can void the bonus.

Deciding in five minutes

  1. Multiply the bonus by the rollover

That is the turnover you must generate.

  2. Divide by the deadline in days

Compare the daily figure with what you actually bet.

  3. Check the bet type

If you do not bet accumulators, a 1xBet or Win Win Bet sports bonus is not for you.

  4. Check the minimum odds

1.40 is workable; 2.10 turns the rollover into a run of near coin-flips.

  5. Consider no bonus

All three let you deposit without a bonus. Your money stays free of rollover, deadlines and stake caps.

A bonus does not change the odds of any bet. It changes your behaviour: a deadline and an accumulator rule push you to bet faster and on more legs. If you notice you are betting "to clear the bonus" rather than because you want the bet, stop — see responsible gambling.

Bonus FAQ

What does 5x rollover mean?

You must place qualifying bets totalling five times the bonus before you can withdraw. With a 4,000 ETB bonus that is 20,000 ETB of bets within the deadline.

Is 1xBet's 200% really 200%?

It is credited as two 100% halves. The sports half has a 5x accumulator requirement; the other half is locked to 1xGames at 30x. For a sports bettor the useful value is 100% up to half the cap.

Which of the three bonuses is easiest?

Win Win Bet's sports bonus and Melbet's (at 1.40 minimum odds) both use 5x. Melbet allows singles, which makes it the easiest if the odds floor is 1.40; Win Win Bet's is fully published and consistent. Avoid any version with 2.10 minimum odds unless you bet that way anyway.

Can I cancel a bonus after accepting it?

Usually yes, via account settings or support, but you forfeit the bonus balance and winnings from it. Decide before the first deposit.

Are free spins cash?

No. They are rounds on a specific slot; what they win becomes bonus balance with its own rollover and sometimes a withdrawal cap.
